“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ (Matt 22:37)
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations … teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age” (Matt 28: 19-20)
Our vision is transformation! We believe the gospel has power to change, and when we change, everything changes!
So changed lives, changed homes, changed communities, changed towns and cities, even a changed nation is our vision. And it starts with me!
Our aim is to bring to Reading and beyond more ‘goodness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit’ (Rom 14:17), to be a light shining in darkness, to bring hope where there is none.
The above commands of Jesus are important to us too because they form the basis of our life together:
Firstly, to love God and people, and secondly out of our love for God and people, to share the gospel and form disciples of Jesus Christ who passionately share the vision of transforming lives.
As we study Jesus’ methods and that of the New Testament church, we notice an emphasis on small groups (cells), as well as larger gatherings.
So we emphasise both too. Our cells – to care, to disciple, to help spiritual growth and development, and the larger gatherings for worship, teaching and ministry.
And because Jesus chose 12 disciples to primarily invest in, we too, have a vision for all cell leaders to train and develop 12 disciples. And as this strategy gets repeated, we expect to be able to form many disciples and leaders who will be able to influence their homes, schools, communities, universities, and work places with the Kingdom of God.
Our logo below illustrates the strategy – one leader of 12. Not just 12 disciples, but 12 leaders who also are forming their teams of 12 too!
